Sonia Saroya (IT/FR) develops sound installations and sculptures with hybrid forms, bringing together techniques such as jewelry-making and ceramics with electronic sound devices. Through this approach, her work takes on multiple forms: her installations are the result of long-term research in which she questions the connection between minerals and technological environments, placing them in dialogue with issues drawn from the humanities, philosophy, and contemporary concerns. She also develops series of "artwork-tools" that sit on the border between art and design. From developing listening or musical play furniture to designing speakers, she explores the experiential and scenographic possibilities offered by these creations, thereby opening up reflective and narrative spaces.

Over the past ten years, she has implemented series of collective artistic experiments in marginal spaces, such as underground locations and industrial brownfields. By developing site-specific creations and mobile sound-system tools, and by supporting numerous artists and musicians, she has sought to experiment with the relationships between collective experience, horizontality, sound, and movement, playing on the immersive potential of these spaces.

A graduate of the University of Paris VIII Vincennes–Saint-Denis, her work has received various forms of support in France (DICRéAM, Région Île-de-France, Ville de Paris, FoRTE, etc.) and has developed through several artist residencies (GMEA – Albi, GMEM – Marseille, Sound Art Lab – Denmark, etc.). She exhibits her works in art centers and cultural venues in France (CNEAI, FRAC Reserves, La Station – Gare des Mines, GMEA, Instants Chavirés, etc.) and abroad (WRO Biennale in Poland, QO² in Belgium, NOPA Festival in Armenia).
